Among some of Harriet’s many accomplishments were her political advances for women. Being an original member of the Kensington Society, Harriet was instrumental in the passing of 1870 Education Act, which allowed her to serve as a member of the London Scopeand Contents. The John Stuart Mill Collection extends from 1812 - 1888, with around 425 items, mainly correspondence to or from John Stuart Mill. There are 237 letters by Mill, 131 of which are to his wife, Harriet (Hardy) Taylor Mill.
